Kenya Association of Fundraising Professionals

 

Kenya Association of Fundraising Professionals (KAFP) is a not-for-profit voluntary membership association that serves as an umbrella organization for fundraisers. Our main purpose is “to encourage people involved in fundraising and resource mobilization to adopt and promote high standards of ethical practice and inject professionalism”. The association aims to bring together resource mobilizers and providers in their bid to enhance development in the country.

Kenya Association of Fundraising Professionals has its roots in the desire by Kenyan Fundraising professionals for a fundraising forum that would bring them together. They wanted a forum that would facilitate their continued professional development, sharing of ideas, experiences and new product innovations. Professionals also needed to network with each other at work, training workshops as well as more relaxed social forums.

KAFP has taken the lead in organizing the annual Eastern Africa Resource Mobilization workshops since 2005 at the Kenyan coast that attract fundraising professionals from as many as 28 countries globally. These are held annually and are aimed at bringing fundraising professionals up to speed with the global trends and best practice. The workshops are designed to strengthen your capacity to mobilize resources and are inspirational, empowering and enlightening. We are supported by top notch facilitators who are fundraisers in their own right from UK, North America and East Africa among others

For the last 10+ years, professionals have congregated monthly to upgrade and polish their resource mobilization skills in relaxed settings in the name of the Coffee Talk. This event has continued to grow and evolve with each year capitalizing on the experiences and suggestions of participants. Like wine, they keep on getting better with age! Leading fundraising professionals and practitioners, both corporate and traditional, are used to facilitate the courses. They are backed by participants with various experiences from the school of hard knocks.

Our monthly Coffee Talk Season meetings give participants the opportunity to strengthen their fundraising skills and network.

KAFP has also contributed to the development of a Resource Mobilization Diploma Course,  communication for non profits course in partnership with the Aga Khan University Graduate School of Media and Communication (GSMC) and consultancy trainings with various development organisations in the region.

KAFP supports development organizations to strengthen their resource mobilization capacity through tailored consultancy trainings and advisory services. These practical courses capitalise on the experiences of successful fundraisers, practitioners, donor agency personnel and others to ensure you have what it takes to succeed in fundraising. Formats such as Presentations, group discussions, role play, Q&A and case studies are designed to give you more practical insights into fundraising.
